7PS: A Guitar Holiday 🎸

by | Nov 14, 2021

This edition is 321 words and takes 2 minutes to read.

Tough week. Max Cleland, former US Senator, passed away. We traveled to over 20+ states together as part of a presidential campaign.

I wrote this piece for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Learn what happened when Max, me, and then-state Senator Barack Obama were driving through rural Illinois.

Be well,

-Kabir

💼 Portfolio Career

Why bankers should be soldiers. Wall Street needs more veterans, and the military could benefit from more bankers. I was a J.P. Morgan banker when I joined the US Navy Reserve. Learn more & Happy Veteran’s Day.

⚡️ Productivity

Cut all your meetings by 10 minutes. My meetings are usually 15 or 20 mins max. Look at your schedule and reduce their duration by just a few minutes – even if that means updating an invitation with your counterparty. You’ll still find a way to get through what you need to, and you’ll end up with more free time.

💰 Money

Consider Spotify (Ticker: SPOT). It will soon launch its Spotify Wrapped 2021 campaign – when people start posting their annual listening habits for the year to social media. Last year, this buzz seemed to generate a bounce in the stock price.

“Spotify always sees a jump in app store rankings in early December following the Year in Review campaign,” said one analyst.

🎵 Music

Listen to A Guitar Holiday by Aaron Larget-Caplan. This serene, solo guitar album is perfect for your holiday vibes. Aaron is a virtuoso who delivers a buoyant and brilliant performance. My favorite tracks are “Greensleeves” and “Deck the Halls.” I’m proud to produce.

📚 Books

Read Thanks a Thousand by A.J. Jacobs who thanks everyone who made his cup of coffee. Literally everyone: The barista, the farmer who grew the bean, the guy who invented the plastic lid so your nose doesn’t get burned. A hilarious romp that reveals the importance of gratitude.

📽️ Film

Watch Listening to Kenny G directed by Penny Lane. Ok, technically it’s not available to watch yet. But it looks remarkable. A reexamination of one of the most accomplished instrumentalists of all time. It debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.
