💼 Portfolio Career

Meet Zachary Burton. Geologist & playwright. “The paycheck I earn as a scientist and consultant subsidizes my efforts in the mental health and theatre worlds.” Daily schedule: iced coffee, client projects, lavish recipes.

⚡️ Productivity

Check out Internxt. A privacy-forward secure cloud storage service that lets teams share sensitive files, photos, and documents. Putting users and their privacy first, the service end-to-end encrypts all data stored and sent across their decentralized network. Quite useful.

💰 Money

Consider Invesco (IVZ). Investment management firm. Stock down ~35% YTD. Dividend ~5%. Check this thesis that contends the stock is cheap & attractive.

📚 Books

Read Quiet by Susan Cain. At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.

🎵 Music

Listen to Invasion: Music and Art for Ukraine by Nadia Shpachenko. Masterpiece! A pianist who grew up in Soviet Ukraine, the California-based artist partnered with composer (& Pulitzer winner) Lewis Spratlan. She commissioned Ukrainian artists to make paintings inspired by the music. A “very personal album,” Nadia said. My favorite tracks: “Speck Pond Rag” & title track. Nadia’s practice routine (8 hours/day growing up but now…)

Bonus – Check Brian Wilbur Grundstrom‘s For Whom the Bell Tolls opera workshop performance.

📽️ Film

Watch Weird: The Al Yankovic Story directed by Eric Appel. Explores every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Stars Daniel Radcliffe
