Making money in indie music is tough.

A project might earn $100 from streaming in a year.

So I have to be thoughtful about where my time goes.

The number of artists and engineers I work with gets smaller every year.

Not because there’s a shortage of talent.

Because I’ve built a creative orbit around execution.

I tend to work with people who have experience in the corporate world or working with customers.

(or who were in the military!)

They call back immediately.

They finish.

They ask, “How did I do?”

There’s usually no pressure, no drama.

And each collaboration gets easier than the last.

Everyone prioritizes different things.

This is simply what works for me.

Try a one-tab day. Open only one browser tab at a time. When you need something else, close the tab you’re on first. It’s surprisingly effective at forcing completion instead of accumulation.

Automate boredom. Anything financial you “mean to do later” should be automated or removed. Bills, transfers, investing, savings. Wealth compounds when attention is not required to maintain it.
