I ran through one at a Metallica concert years ago…

And I kept running – away from metal music.

But lately, I’ve been listening to a type of metal music called “nu metal.” (also known as aggro-metal)

It’s like metal meets Hip Hop/funk/grunge.

Fewer power guitar solos. More syncopated riffs.

Think Limp Bizkit or Korn.

Maybe it’s time you also gave (nu) metal a chance…

A growing number of Gen Zers are listening to nu metal for the first time. It’s considered one of the most accessible forms of metal.

The flamboyant style of nu metal fashion has also caught the attention of celebrities like Billie Eilish & Machine Gun Kelly. Fans are inspired by the oversized outfits, chains, and colorful hair.

Nu metal’s revival can be largely attributed to social media platforms like TikTok. It’s possible for fans to cherry-pick different genres and find subgenres like nu metal more readily.
