If you have a corporate job, do NOT talk about your outside initiatives to your colleagues. 🤫
I learned this the hard way.
Is Kabir serious about working here?
He’s off … fill in the blank (playing music, writing books, etc.)
He clearly doesn’t have enough to do at work. (Let’s give him more stuff to do…)
Look, I get it. Employers/managers want their employees to focus on their work.
But if you’re performing well at your day job, I think there can be some leeway in exploring outside interests.
Take the case of David Solomon, Goldman Sachs CEO – also known as DJ D-Sol.
DJ-Sol is known for his energetic and high-energy music style that incorporates various genres such as EDM, house, and pop.
His music is characterized by catchy melodies, infectious beats, and powerful drops that create an electric atmosphere on the dancefloor.
He has a knack for blending different elements and styles seamlessly, creating unique and dynamic tracks that stand out in the music scene.
BUT he has stopped performing at high-profile events due to the outside attention that he has received.
Solomon’s hobby as a DJ had led him to headline a number of events, including Lollapalooza, but his spinning had also stirred up some controversy.
Solomon’s unorthodox hobby likely caused head scratching from board members who wondered why he couldn’t just take up golf, but it’s not the main reason for recent criticisms of his leadership and ability to run Goldman Sachs.
Solomon’s reported potty mouth, lack of collaboration with other executives, emphasis on returning to the office, and the recent failure of Marcus have led colleagues to openly question his future at the company.
Nevertheless, Goldman Sachs announced third-quarter results that beat analysts’ expectations, reporting earnings of $5.47 per share and revenue of $11.82 billion, although profit fell by 33% from a year earlier.
This dude is leading one of the most prestigious investment banks. He & team are delivering results if you go by the recent earnings. Sure, criticism comes with the territory.
But let this guy drop some beats!
Memento Mori! 💀🎵
