1. Why are you an author?

I am an author because I love to write, read, educate, and support people along their financial journeys.

Books are a powerful instrument in reaching as many people as possible.

Books also allow me to tell deep stories, the ones that can inspire and show how we are not alone.

2. Who inspired your literary inspirations?

My literary inspirations include Firoozeh Dumas, the author of Funny in Farsi, David Sedaris, Eve Rodsky, Maya Angelou and my kids.

3. What is your writing routine?

I write all the time. There are no boundaries (I’m working on it.) Writing a book is not limited to writing words on paper. Writing a book involves planning, thinking, rewriting, and editing.

4. Why did you write this book?

A Healthy State of Panic
By Farnoosh Torabi

I wanted to write something deeply personal that would also teach us something really important.

This book is the culmination of my 40+ years living afraid, but somehow still managing to make grown-woman decisions with conviction.

I wanted to show how being fearful is not a weakness. It can be your superpower.

5. What were the biggest obstacles in writing this book?

The biggest obstacles included finding the time, finding the courage, trusting that I had what it took, that people would care and that it would ultimately be a worthwhile experience.

6. Who are the key points of the book?

The key points in this book are that fear is not something we need to fear. Fear can be a friend, a compass, to show us what we care about, our values and what comfort, security and happiness really mean to us.

The book travels through 9 different fears, showing how I and others have worked through them and ultimately used fear as tool at life’s crossroads.
