What do you call a Holi celebration with no colors?
A washout. 🤣

Time for my favorite holiday…Holi! (March 8).

📚 Books

Read Festival of Colors by Kabir Sehgal and (my mom) Surishtha Sehgal. I’ve written many books, but this one is by far the best seller…

Spring is here, and it’s almost time for Holi, the Indian Festival of Colors. Siblings Mintoo and Chintoo are busy gathering flowers to make into colorful powders to toss during the festival. And when at last the big day comes, they gather with their friends, family, and neighbors for a vibrant celebration of fresh starts, friendship, forgiveness, and, of course, fun!

🎵 Music

Listen to Unánime by Roxana Amed. Reflects the voices of Latin American & Spanish musicians. Features guests like Chucho Valdes & Martin Bejerano. Favorite tracks: “Flamenco Sketches” & “Los Tres Golpes.”

📽️ Film

Watch Festival of Colors. This short animation is more than a book trailer. It’s a highly rendered stop-time animation. Animator Natalia Janul designed clay figures of the main characters Chintoo and Mintoo. She moved each character a little and took thousands of still frame, creating the animation effect. A beautiful, introspective aesethetic. Check out that butterfly!
