President Jimmy Carter is like an uncle to me.

In the 1960s, my immigrant dad arrived at Auburn University & rang the bell.
​
​Lillian Carter (Jimmy’s mother) opened the door.
​
She was the dorm’s housemother.
​
She & dad watched Rawhide together.
​
Our families have been close ever since.

In 2022, my family & I visited President Carter at his home in Plains, GA.
​
His health had taken a turn.
​
I thought music might lift his spirits.
​
I played “Greensleeves” on guitar – even though it was the middle of summer.
​
(I only know a few songs.)
​
He loved it.
​
We talked about collaborating on a “final” project.
​
After two years of toil & tears, I’m proud to share what we created.
​
President Carter turns 100 on October 1.
​
Art is a form of love.
