Someone asked me the other day: “How do you decide what to put in these emails?”
My criteria is that something has to
- Give you value
- Give you value
- Give you value
- … and be concise!
Thanks for reading,

Sunday Seven
Natalie Jean is an executive assistant, artist, and minister. Learn how she achieves work-life balance.
Don’t say thank you. Say “I’m grateful” instead. Here are three reasons why.
💰 Finance
This is your brain on money. No really, brain scans reveal that money and cocaine activate the same part of your brain.
📚 Books
Read Between Two Kingdoms by Suleika Jaouad. A deeply personal memoir in which the author describes her journey with cancer and recovery. Beautifully written and incredibly moving.
🎵 Music
Listen to Llegara Remix. I remixed Emilio Solla’s song “Llegara, Llegara, Llegara” from his award winning album Puertos. This remix features vocals by Manu Manzo and rap by Danay Suarez. I’m especially proud of this track because it most represents where I am musically these days: Latin pop with big band jazz.
📽️ Film
Watch Softie, directed by Sam Soko. Political activist Boniface “Softie” Mwangi runs for office in a regional Kenyan election, which puts pressure on his young family and his convictions. I interviewed producer Toni Kamau on how she made this epic project.
A day of tributes & reflections.
We must #CarryOn the work of #JohnLewis.

I love the part on gratitude, Kabir! Begin the day with gratitude and everything goes more smoothly. Even when faced with challenges, gratitude makes all the difference in meeting them. As far as I know, we only get 1 life in this iteration and expressing gratitude is the path to bliss and fulfilling one’s potential. Many blessings to you!
Thank you, Kate, for your feedback. Yes, so important to show gratitude. I am grateful for you and your amazing music! 🙂
Very happy to see you recognize Jessica Sanders. She’s an amazing documentary film director and good friend from college. Definitely someone whose films one should follow. She’ll continue to shine a light on/raise awareness of critical domestic/global issues.
