Runaway Train

Boston based pianist Joe Mulholland presents a classic, swinging jazz trio date featuring longtime local sidemen Bob Nieske on bass, and Bob Tamagni on drums, in six Mulholland originals and three smartly chosen covers by Miles Davis, Jimmy Giuffre and Dietz & Schwartz. Deeply influenced by iconic jazz greats Miles, Mingus, Monk, Ellington, Evans, Coltrane and others, Mulholland serves up an eclectic, always tasty mix of Brazilian, bebop, modal and contemporary/classic jazz styles on “Runaway Train.” Adding distinctiveness to this release is that it also contains two blues – the Mulholland title track “Runaway Train” and “Me, Too” by Jimmy Giuffre. Joe Mulholland and his Trio is widely known in the Boston Jazz club scene, and Joe also serves as professor for (jazz) harmony at Berklee College.
