7PS: 8 hours + an afternoon nap 😴

I sleep eight hours a night. 

And also take a 20-minute afternoon nap. 

Not because I’m lazy. 

Because I’m trying to become a better guitarist, DJ, and writer (for 7PS). 

I’m trying to work on my disposition. My temper. 

Annoying person? Sleep it off. 

I’m working on a new sleep meditation album, and I’ve delved into the science of sleep.

Check out Matthew Walker’s 12 sleep tips:
1. Stick to a sleep schedule (goto bed & wake up at the same times)
2. Don’t exercise 2-3 hours before sleeping
3. Don’t consume caffeine/nicotine in the afternoons
4. Don’t nap after 3 pm 
5. Draw a hot bath … and more


💰 Money

Consider Target (Ticker: TGT). It was hammered after it missed earnings and cut guidance. The company boosted its dividend 20%, so perhaps there’s an incentive for jumping in these choppy waters. Dividends = make money while you…sleep.  (There’s a theme to this 7PS!)

📚 Books

Read Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Walker guides you through a breathtaking range of scientific studies with eloquence and passion. He cogently makes the case that sleep: (1) boosts health, (2) fuels creativity, (3) enhances memories, and much more. We sleep ⅓ of our lives. Do you ever wonder what’s happening when we turn out the lights?

Listen to Hiding Place by Adam Andrews. Simple, stirring piano music that will help you relax and float away. My favorite tracks: “In Time” and “Sanctuary.”

Watch The Quest for Sleep directed by Rachel Mills. Follows real characters whose struggles with sleep threaten to unravel their waking lives.
